In a groundbreaking move, the Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF), represented by President Panagiotis Theodoropoulos, and the World Para Jiu-Jitsu Federation (WPJJF), represented by President Elcirley Luz Silva, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster the development and promotion of Ju-Jitsu, Para Jiu-Jitsu (PJJ), and Inclusive Self-Defence (ISD). The agreement aims to strengthen the sport globally, emphasizing inclusion, diversity, and the integration of athletes with disabilities.
Under this collaboration, both organizations will work together to promote equal opportunities in Ju-Jitsu and encourage the participation of athletes from all backgrounds. Joint seminars and training sessions will be organized to improve technical standards and address issues of harassment and discrimination in sport.
A key aspect of the partnership is mutual technical support. WPJJF will assist JJIF in organizing Para Jiu-Jitsu events, while JJIF will guide WPJJF in adhering to global sports regulations, including anti-doping protocols. Both organizations will also collaborate on developing training programs for coaches, referees, and athletes.
The agreement also includes a commitment to integrate Para Jiu-Jitsu and ISD events into both organizations' official competition calendars, ensuring greater visibility and opportunities for athletes with disabilities.
This MoU marks a significant step toward a more inclusive and unified future for Ju-Jitsu, promoting the sport's growth while championing the values of accessibility and fair play.
